Auf seine ganz besondere Art ist das Album The Gospel According To Blind Uncle Harry eine Skurilität. Der Folk Rock Musiker aus Illinois veröffentlicht ein Album, dass wie es der Name schon vermuten lässt, sich mit Gospel auseinander setzt. Doch hier geht es nicht um Kirchen-Funk, sondern um Folk Rock. Veröffentlicht wurde das ganze Opus am 08. April über das Label Lumpen Records. Das Kunstvolle Cover ist ja mal eine definitive Augenweide und so lassen wir uns nicht Lumpen und hören uns heute mal im Spotlight den Song Hillbilly Hippie Haiku Heaven, hervorgehoben aus The Gospel According, in Ruhe an.
Hillbilly Hippie Haiku Heaven läutet mit einer Ankündigung an und man ist schon gespannt, was einem da in wenigen Sekunden erwarten wird. An und für sich wurde hier nicht zu viel versprochen. Unter der Einbeziehung von Geige und Cello wird ein absolutes Südstaatenfeeling zum Publikum transportiert. Leider ist der Gesang etwas zu Laut und übertönt den Gesang. Wenn man den Song so hört, weiß man nun nicht, ob die rübergebrachte Message Ironisch und Humorvoll oder Todernst gemeint ist. Wir gehen mal von ersterem aus und behaupten, dass sich Uncle Harry wohl nicht zu ernst nimmt. Dies merkt man schon an der fröhlichen Stimmung des Titels. Die Instrumente werden selbstverständlich beherrscht und präsentieren ein interessantes Ensemble der Instrumente. Leider könnte das ganze lyrisch etwas negativ aufgefasst werden und SJW’s auf den Plan rufen, welche das Messer Wetzen werden. An und für sich macht der fröhlich stimmende Song aber versöhnlich, ist talentiert gespielt und hat von seinem Sound gesehen einen echten Charme. Die Produktion ist wahrlich der Marke Wohnzimmer und dennoch kann der Song alleine durch sein musikalisches Potenzial und das Talent der hier amtierenden Musikers glänzen.
Fazit 8 von 10: Sind wir nicht alle Gay, Lesbian, Pansexual, Transgender, Potsmoking, Acid Trippin…. Hippies? Ich denke der Sarkasmus sollte hier erkennbar sein. An und für sich ist das eine gute Nummer, die ihr euch unbedingt mal anhören solltet!
