No artist has accompanied us as regularly as the US folk rocker and songwriter Blind Uncle Harry . Even before this magazine existed, we presented our readers with a real gem in 2020 with his debut album The Gospel According To Blind Uncle Harry. Several singles later, the uncle now presents us with his new solo work Hey Showtime , another composition from his pen, which once again proves his musical ability and perfectly highlights the talent of his works.

MUSICAL VIRTUOSITY AND SUMMER FLAIR

Opening with a typical retro rock sound and a summery flair, Blind Uncle Harry is convincing right from the start. He delivers a fantastic instrumental work that comes out of the speakers retro as hell. Once again with musical dexterity, complexity and perfectionism, Blind Uncle Harry convinces at medium tempo. This artist animates the audience with his danceable jargon. Once again, Blind Uncle Harry, under the leadership of his singer, proves his vocal talent that gets under your skin just as much as the summery arrangements and compositions that meet the highest standards. Blind Uncle Harry is convincing across the board. The sound and production manage to strike a balance between modern and absolute retro 60's / 70's rock.

INTERPRETATION OF “HEY SHOWTIME”

The lyrics of Hey Showtime tell a nostalgic and intimate story. The narrator recalls getting someone high for the first time, an experience he counts among the top 5 moments of his life. The description of the scene, where the person is sitting in a chair and the smell of "spinach Alfredo, Cooper's beer, weed and car ride sweat" is in the air, creates a vivid picture of a special night.

The lines "I played guitar / And you sang along / You said Play that one again / You know, the one about love gone wrong" show a connection between the two characters that is reinforced by music. It is a mixture of melancholy and happiness that lives on in the narrator's memory.

The song's climax, "We stayed up all night / And watched the sky fill up with light / The sun rose behind you / And you were all aglow," conveys a sense of timeless romance. It's a moment that remains etched in the narrator's memory, a testament to the power of simple, shared experiences.
