Dokhuis Galerie Show

Well it's been a whirlwind last few days and now have to get ready for last show tonight before flying back tomorrow. wow wow wow, joseph aka dreamboat and I had quite the show Thursday at Dokhuis Galerie in Amsterdam. A former squat, as was my first show at Anita's, but Dokhuis has continued as a collective. Also similar to Anita's it had a basement kind of pit area where the music took place, with a balcony above it on three sides which was the main floor with tables and chairs for dinner and a bar.

Evening started with a lovely free vegan communal dinner. We met Dr Foolish, not to be confused with Dr Vomit or Dr Filth, the two doctors I'd been in email contactwith to book the show. Dr Foolish looked after us, ran the sound and overall kind of ran the show.

Set couldn't have gone better. People sang along, laughed at my jokes, applauded enthusiastically and in general it felt like a wonderful inebriated sing along jam session with friends. Dreamboat aka Joseph upped the banter by bringing in some of his Brothers Klatt routine by asking the very enthusiastic audience 'can i get a hallelujah! can i get an amen!' which of course worked especially well for Rat Turd and Everybody Farts When They Die. In fact the audience was so enthusiastic that two girls got up and danced to Such Is Life Kurt Vonnegut, which I never really thought of as all that dance-able.

Afterwards I sold all the cd's I'd brought, plus all remaining stickers. People really seemed to have enjoyed the show, if the number of beers we were bought was any indication. A better indication though was perhaps that we were invited to the after party in the lair of Dr Foolish.
